PAYING the bills, doing housework, putting the children to bed - all part and parcel of domestic life.

Let me help you: Semi-finalists in the Compatibility Challenge in the opening game.

The couples were taking part in the semi-finals of the Compatibility Challenge at VivoCity yesterday.

They were shortlisted during the qualifying rounds last Friday and had to go through a series of games to earn points to prove their compatibility.

The opening game tested their compatibility in decision-making.

Each girl and her boyfriend were made to stand back-to-back, holding one of each of their shoes.

As the host read out scenarios such as 'cleaning the toilets' and 'planning family holidays', they had to raise the shoe of the person they believed would call the shots in that area after marriage.

If both of them raised the same person's shoe, they received 100 points.

This was done in two rounds of four couples each, with different questions for each round.

In some cases, the decisions made were uncannily similar across the pairs.

When asked who would pay the bills, all eight contestants onstage raised the man's shoe.

Seven out of eight couples also determined that the men would clean the toilets, raising laughter from the audience.

After two games and a catwalk, five pairs were selected for the finals, while the rest received consolation prizes.

For Miss Joey Wong, who entered the event with boyfriend Eugene Soon, qualifying for the finals was 'definitely exciting'.

But they wanted not so much to win as to enjoy themselves.

Mr Soon said: 'We're here to create good memories down the road.'

Another highlight of the Wedding Planner yesterday was the Bridal Fashion Show by bridal boutique and photography studio Yvonne Creative.

A group of models, all pageant winners, wore bridal gowns accessorised with simple, elegant jewellery.

They also showed off evening gowns in hues of champagne, silver, and even turquoise and purple.

Three of the models - Rachel Doss, Nargis Musawwir and Genecia Luo - were also previous finalists of The New Paper New Face competition.

So, what was it like to model bridal gowns at a wedding fair when they are still single?

Miss Doss, 22, quipped: 'I guess it's a good thing.

'Now I know all the things I need to look for in the future.'
