Glad to have a good quiet Morning (quite unusual of my schedule) to blog. Usually I do my personal stuff at night - after all my classes, and meetings! Its really been quite hectic. How about yours?
In the past months, I have led InQueenz to be the Training Provider for:
1. 'U ARE THE ONE' - the search for the New Face of Channel U; which airs every Monday from March, 8pm - 9pm.
2. Miss Singapore World 2008 - and the search is on!
Being the training provider for 'U ARE THE ONE' proved challlenging yet fulfillling. As the Personality Development Coach of InQueenz, I had to train 16 contestants. Out of which, 8 are girls, and 8 are guys. All the 16 contestants are pretty young, the youngest being only 17 years old. And they all have 1 dream. The dream to give their best shot - to achieve a step into the world of entertainment.
I had a two 3-hour block for each group of contestants, whereby I shared with them tips on how to sashay on stage - catwalk, poses & expressions, how to maintain good posture and deportment, the do's & don'ts to their stage presence, ways to confidence building as well as techniques to boost their mental state.
In addition, I was called on to do personal coaching for 2 of the contestants.
One of them is Mable Soe - Jiang Ting Ting. I was asked to coach her for the talent segment for the theme 'Sexy Baby', 2nd week into the competition. Although it was only a 1 minute 10 seconds bit to be showcased on stage, the hard work behind the scenes - well, you won't know it unless you see and hear it for yourself. So I choreorgraphed dance moves according to the song, YONG XIN LIANG KU where Mable learnt & practised.
In the end, for the Monday's 'live' show on theme 'Sexy Baby', Mable was the Winner for the 1st round (there are 3 rounds every week), and she was not the overall thematic champion. Guess what? After the show, Mable came to me and just kept thanking me. She said that she did her best and she has no regrets. Kudos to her attitude in this competition - and Mable is the youngest in the competition - age 17.
My experience with Mable was exciting. Being very young, she has not had alot of life experiences that she truely understands - to bring out the expressions & flavour for the theme. So it was a challenge to seek out the metal impressions she had previously, to trigger and unleash the inner princess. Certainly it had worked as she was such a natural on that night of competition - 'Sexy Baby'. I feel satisfied and happy that I am able to help this youth, be a step closer to her goal - to be 'U ARE THE ONE'.
At InQueenz, not only are we coachee-centred, we also believe in using psychological empowerment techniques to assist an individual to achieve the desired outcome. Thats how I helped Mabel in unleashing her inner princess.
For another personal coaching, it was done for Louis Fong, M6. This coaching request came after his performance in the 'HUNK' theme. So we got down to understanding Louis's speach & presentation patterns and then providing with techniques & tactics to a better presentation.
It is really fulfilling to know that through imparting the skills and knowledge to these youths do allow them to develop, improve, improvise and impact.
InQueenz has another 2 coachees who made it into the finals of Miss Singapore Universe 2008. From 21 to the final 16! The grand finals will be in May. Will keep you updated! So stay tuned...
At the same time, another 2 coachees of InQueenz got in to the finals of the Marigold Peel Fresh search for the next ambassadress! From a hefty 20 contestants to the final 10! They were featured in i - weekly about 2 weeks ago, so now we are waiting for the finale. The winner of the Marigold Peel Fresh Search...
